Mission

To provide resources, advocacy and leadership on behalf of the abused, neglected, or financially exploited elders and adults with disabilities in Hidalgo and Starr Counties in conjunction with Texas Adult Protective Services.

Since 1996, Silver Ribbon has been working to raise community awareness regarding the prevention of abuse, neglect or exploitation of the elderly and disabled.

Who we are

Silver Ribbon’s mission is to provide Advocacy, Education and Resources necessary to prevent the elderly or disabled from becoming victims of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. We are also raising community awareness through yearly events to ensure they are not forgotten. The events are during the month of May & June, ask for a schedule and give us your support.

Let them know they're not forgotten

We all know that there are times our elderly & disabled may need a little help when undergoing an emergency or crisis. We offer financial assistance to help with utility bills like light, water or gas to prevent disconnection.

We can also help with rent or rent deposits to prevent eviction. We also help purchase necessary 1-time medicines, necessary medical equipment like walkers, shower chairs, etc., and can help with a donation of incontinence supplies, and other personal medical necessities.

Advocacy

We are here to connect you with adult protective services if you or someone you know is suffering abuse (physical, emotional or sexual) neglect or financial exploitation – remember it's everyone's responsibility to report abuse.
